Tall Ships Regatta at Aveiro - 1

The Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta and Festival do Mar 2008 is the centrepiece of year-long celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the first settlement on the Portuguese island of Madeira. The fleet of sail training Tall Ships gathered (10 - 13 September) in the historic port of Falmouth on the south west coast of England before racing to Aveiro, Portugal (20 - 23 September) where the following pictures were taken last Sunday. From Aveiro the Tall Ships will race to Funchal, Madeira for a Maritime Festival and major celebrations in the city (2 - 5 October).

For some good pictures you can go here although I believe some legends were misplaced (namely the clowns one...). For real nice pictures check this post and the ones that will follow!

SEDOV's bell where they use a lot of Coração...

The sails colour scheme is worldwide famous. The Alexander Von Humboldt.
